Trachelospermum jasminoides

Trachelospermum jasminoides

This native of the Far East ist widely cultivated in Mediterranean gardens. It is a vigorous evergreen climber that can grow up to 6 meters high and 3 meters wide. Its very fragrant flowers will perfume the whole garden or terrace in May and June.

Trachelospermum jasminoides will flower in full sun or (partial) shade and requires deep, fertile, and well-drained soil. It needs some sort of climbing structure to be attached to and is frost hardy to -10°C.

Although Trachelospermum jasminoides is supposed to thrive in full sun and need little water once established, in this Mediterranean garden they get pretty stressed and need quite a bit of water in full sun. To me it is only moderately drought resistant and would definitely benefit from a partially shady spot
